Centennial Park
Centennial Park is a re-imagination of the existing 5-acre park on Dixie Hwy in Pompano Beach, FL. The park included the 1916 historic Sample McDougald House, listed on the National and Local Register of Historic Places, is a distinctive historic house museum known for its unique architecture, history and cultural background. It was built in 1916 by Pompano Beach pioneer and farmer, Albert Neal Sample, who served as a community leader until his death in 1941. New work includes a new 7000 sq. ft. outdoor pavilion, bathroom structures, a catering kitchen and a complete transformation of the park. The park will include edible gardens, passive and active recreation areas and a heritage garden with edible garden with seasonal heirloom and homestyle fruits and vegetables growing year-round. The garden features a variety of South Florida native edible plants, everyday vegetables, small fruits and herbs. This area displays sugar cane, Everglades tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, greens, beets, assorted herbs, edible and ornamental petals.
